UAE Targets Improved Efficiency in Energy Sectors
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for UAE, has announced a large-scale plan to improve efficiency in key sectors across the country.
UAE will aim to improve the efficiency in three of the highest energy consumption sectors – transport, construction, and industry. The objective was mentioned when unveiling the Government plan for the national water and energy demand management programme.
The minister added that the Government plans will also involve the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, embracing the fourth industrial revolution, and accelerating innovation.
The Government strategy involves the improvement of efficiency along with the following parameters:
• Improvement of consumption efficiency by 40%
• Enhancing contribution of renewable energy to the energy mix by 50% by 2050
• Expanding reuse of water by 95%
Of these, the most important objective involves the increase in the contribution of renewable energy to the energy mix by 2050, which is in line with the UAE Government vision.
